The majority of the Sioux City Jr. Musketeers Pee Wee team have been playing hockey together for years. Together they have celebrated victories, learned from their defeats, developed their skills, took on new challenges, and most importantly had fun playing as a team. This season the Jr. Musketeers will face a new challenge – learning the art of checking.

The Musketeers will face this new challenge under the supervision of head Coach Dan Holzrichter. Coach Holzrichter has been a part of Sioux City Hockey since the begging. He started playing when he was 8 years old – just one year after organized hockey started in Sioux City. After playing hockey through high school, Holzrichter attended the US Naval Academy where he played four years on the Varsity team. As a Marine based in South Carolina he was a standout on the Marine Corps. All Star team. In 1991, after a tour of duty in Desert Storm, he returned home to Sioux City and began a sixteen year career coaching the sport he loved. Four years ago he began refereeing games. He now refs games at all levels through college.

The Jr. Musketeers will be participation in five big tournaments this season: the BISA Tournament in Brookings, SD; the Shootout Tounrney in Sioux City, IA; the Faribault Tournament in Faribault, MN; the Blazing Blades Tournament in Luverne, MN and the Winterfest Classic Invitational Tournament in Mason City, IA.

The Musketeers also play Friendship games with teams from the surrounding areas. All told, the Musketeers will play around 40 games this season.
YHR wishes the Jr. Musketeers and their coach good luck this season.
